Crafting Sourdough with Local Passion

Homegrown Starter & Golden Crust Perfection

Every Loaf Tells a Story of Care and Quality

We proudly cultivate a remarkable sourdough starter, affectionately named Etta Lou, to produce artisan breads that showcase a perfect ear, a glorious golden crust, and an exquisitely tender crumb. Our weekly bread drops unite the community through our freshly baked breads and delightful sweets, crafted with passion and dedication.

Hi, I'm Rhonda, the hands behind River Road Sourdough

Hi there! I'm a proud wife, mom, and grandma, and I often find myself covered in flour—it's just part of the fun! What began as a simple love for homemade bread has blossomed into something so much more. It’s become my little escape, a chance to create something delicious with my hands, and a wonderful way to gather family and friends around the table again. Every loaf I make is crafted with care, using good ingredients and a sprinkle of patience, all in small, loving batches. To me, sourdough isn’t about chasing after perfection; instead, it’s all about creating warmth and comfort—food that invites you to hang out in the kitchen a bit longer.

You’ll often catch me playing around with exciting flavors, giving my starter Etta Lou a little extra love, or convincing myself I really need to whip up “just one more loaf” today. River Road Sourdough was founded on a simple truth: Good bread just feels like home. I’m so happy to have you here with me!

Weekly Bread Drop Menu

The Naked Loaf

Sometimes simple is the whole point. The Naked Loaf is a classic white sourdough with a crisp golden crust, soft chewy center and that deep homemade flavor only slow fermentation can give. Perfect for toast, sandwiches or standing at the counter tearing pieces off while the butter melts.

Rye or Wheat available once a mont

Jalapeno Cheddar

This loaf brings the heat in the best possible way. Sharp cheddar melts into every bite while jalapenos add just enough kick to keep things interesting. Makes an unreal grilled cheese and even better toast with eggs in the morning.

Seasonal flavors will be announced

Italian Herb and Cheese

Savory, cozy and packed with flavor, this loaf is loaded with italian herbs and a rich nutty cheese blend. It smells like an old-school family kitchen while it bakes and pairs perfectly with pasta, soup or a slab of salted butter. Did someone say spaghetti sandwich?
